Russian Saint George the Victorious Silver Coin

Saint George the Victorious silver coins were first issued on January 11, 2009. The obverse features the emblem of the Central Bank of Russia—a double-headed eagle with wings down—and is inscribed with "БАНК РОССИИ" (Bank of Russia), "ТРИ РУБЛЯ" (Three rubles), indications of the precious metal content and its fineness, and the year of issue followed by the mint mark. Like the Year of Mouse, the Year of Ox also has 8 denominations for the Silver Series. It also has the same number of limited mintage for 1 oz Gilded, Coloured, Proof, 3-Coin Proof Set, 4-Coin Typeset and 1 kg Proof.

The only difference is in the 1 kg Gemstone Edition, where the gemstone used for the 2009 version is Yellow Citrine Eye Insets, instead of Blue Sapphire.

2009 Year of Ox

The Year of Ox has the lowest mintage for all of its sizes. Commentaries mentioned that it could be due to the sudden issue of all three years in 2007 that caught collectors by surprise and hence affected the demand. Nonetheless, it can be seen that for Lunar Series, mintage and price are not quite inter-linked. This is also the same for Lunar Series issued by the Chinese mint. Notably there was only ONE 2 oz transacted on ebay international from July to December 2009.

2009 American Buffalo Gold Proof Coin Price Adjustment

Since the US Mint launched the 2009 American Buffalo Gold Proof Coin on 29 October 2009, in a period of 1 month, due to the rapid rise of gold price, the US Mint has adjust its price for their collectors coins - for the Buffalo, for the second time.

Launched at $1,360, the US Mint raised by $50 to $1,410 on 12 November. On 25 November, its price was further raised to $1,460. The spot price was $1,040, $1,121 and $1,195 (new record high to-date) respectively. Meanwhile, 116,500 of 2009 American Buffalo Gold Bullion Coin have been sold in October 2009.

At latest count on 29 March 2010, 49,388 of 2009 American Buffalo Proof Gold coins were sold. Meanwhile, 200,000 of 2009 American Buffalo Gold Bullion coins were sold out in December 2009.

2009 Britannia Silver Bullion

The design of the 2009 Britannia Silver Bullion is an anti-climax. It kept me anticipating for a repeat design. This chariot design has been used in 1997 and 1999 (semi-proof) and now 2009. I sure hope it's not another standing/walking Britannia for 2011.
